Speaking on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Trump said stopping the bloodshed in Eastern Europe would be a major achievement, hinting that it might even help his spiritual record.

“If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that’s pretty big. I want to try to get to heaven if possible. I’m hearing I’m not doing well,” he joked.

Trump met with European leaders, including Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House on Monday, as he continues to push for an end to the war that has lasted over three years. Last week, he also held direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska — the first time the two leaders had met since 2019.

Although Trump insists he can broker peace, Russia has shown little interest in an immediate ceasefire, with Moscow demanding that Ukraine give up some territory.

Observers say Trump appears motivated not just by global peace but also by personal legacy, as he has repeatedly mentioned his desire to win a Nobel Peace Prize.
