UN Flags Ongoing Rights Abuses After Chibok Kidnapping

The report noted that despite global outrage and repeated promises of reform, many communities continue to face insecurity, mass displacement and abuses linked to insurgency. Families of the kidnapped girls, many of whom remain missing, told the committee they still live with pain and uncertainty.

The UN urged Nigeria to strengthen protections for vulnerable groups, improve accountability for past atrocities and ensure justice for victims. It stressed that the trauma of Chibok cannot be forgotten and warned that the pattern of abuses shows deep-rooted systemic failures.
